Grootbos Reserve: Forest Lodge vs Garden Lodge

Nestled in the heart of South Africa's Western Cape, Grootbos Private Nature Reserve offers two distinct yet equally enchanting lodges: Forest Lodge and Garden Lodge. Both lodges provide luxurious accommodations and immersive nature experiences, but each has its unique charm and appeal. Let's explore the differences between these two exceptional lodges to help you decide which one suits your travel preferences best.

The Main Differences

  • Forest Lodge only accepts children over the age of 12 years while Garden Lodge accepts children of all ages. This means that the vibe at Forest Lodge is quieter and more tranquil

  • Forest Lodge has an infinity pool while Garden Lodge has a traditional pool and a jacuzzi

  • Forest Lodge features outdoor showers and bathtubs with views, while the bathtubs at Garden Lodge are in the bathroom without a window

  • Forest Lodge’s rooms are set in the Milkwood Forest and spread apart, offering more privacy but much farther walks from the room to the lodge. Garden Lodge rooms are much closer to the lodge but some require staircases up to the room (those rooms have the best views though)

Which Should You Choose?

Both Forest Lodge and Garden Lodge offer unique experiences that cater to different types of travelers. If you seek a romantic and tranquil escape surrounded by nature, Forest Lodge is the perfect choice. On the other hand, if you're traveling with family and looking for a welcoming environment with activities for all ages, Garden Lodge will meet your needs.

As a result of the more adult-oriented vibe, the outdoor showers, more private rooms, and the infinity pool with views, honeymooners and couples tend to prefer Forest Lodge. Families tend to prefer Garden Lodge since all ages are accepted, the pool has a jacuzzi, the rooms are closer together, and the proximity to the Kids Club and Villas. Those with trouble walking long distances or on uneven ground should request a room at Garden Lodge without a staircase.

No matter which lodge you choose, Grootbos promises an unforgettable experience filled with luxury, natural beauty, and warm hospitality. Whether you're exploring the ancient Milkwood forest or enjoying the panoramic views from your suite, Grootbos is a destination that will leave you with lasting memories.

Forest Lodge: A Tranquil Retreat in the Milkwood Forest
